Who Was Susan B Anthony

One pioneer crusader of the woman suffrage movement in the United States was born on this day February 15, 1820. Susan B. Anthony was born in Adams Massachusetts. Anthony worked hard along side others involved in the
suffrage movement that would help pave way for future women. The 19th amendment of the constitution passed in 1920 that gave women the right to vote.

Susan B Anthony born February 15, 1820 grew up in Adams Massachusetts. Her family was politically active in causes to end slavery in the abolitionist movement, the temperance movement which wanted alcohol sales to be limited or ended. Susan herself was inspired to work towards a cause as well and chose to fight for women's rights. This may have been the result of her not having right to speak at the temperance convention because she was a woman. She wanted women to have the right to vote

Susan B Anthony died on March 13, 1906. Women still had not been given the right to vote. It would be another 14 years before the 19th amendment to the U.S. constitution would give adult women the chance to vote. In 1979 the U.S. Treasury department put Anthony's portrait on one dollar coins.
