Read Between The Lines ( A Day for Cliche's )

A cliche is a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought. Sure we have all used them but they give a sign that what we are saying or writing is very predictable or unoriginal. The word Cliche comes from French and refers to the click a printer's metal stereotyping plate would make. It implies that the message is being copied as in reproducing something unchanged. One good example of cliched style writing is the phrase "One Dark and Stormy Night"

Writing is not the only area that chiche's are over used. Job resumes and applications have seen their fair share as well. According to Red Letter resumes the top 10 most cliche' resume words are :

We have all been guilty of using a cliche in conversation. The lucky thing for you is that today is cliche day and a time to have fun using as many cliche's as you would like. So here is a short list that you can keep in mind. In comments share one of your own favorites if you please as I may want to borrow it for next year on November 3rd.

They all lived happily ever after All hell breaks looseRead between the lines
I'm taking it one day at a timeApple of my eyeWaking up on the wrong side of the bed
The quiet before the stormBack to square one Beauty is only skin deep
All hell breaks looseFall head over healsBetween the devil and the deep blue sea
I'm taking it one day at a timeThe ball is in your court All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy
All dressed up and nowhere to goEvery dog has his dayI’m not getting any younger
Don’t know him from AdamCry me a riverJack of all trades and a master of none
David versus GoliathHammeredPenny wise and pound foolish
Better late than neverI second thatVariety is the spice of life
Fight like cats and dogsHop, skip and a jumpSeparate the men from the boys
If only walls could talkOh my God!Wear your heart out on your sleeve
Think outside the boxMake ends meetWhen in Rome, do as Romans do
Like a kid in a candy storeTake a dump/leak When all is said and done
Plenty of fish in the seaWelcome to the clubWhat goes around comes around
Go together hand in handZip it!Beat around the bush
Happy as a pig in mudGadzooks!Born with a silver spoon
See the glass as half emptyGo jump in the lakeJust the tip of the iceberg
Reopen an old woundLove is blindKnows it chapter and verse
