World Theatre Day

World theatre day started in 1962. It is celebrated each year by ITI centries, ITI cooperating members, theatre professionals, theatre organizations, theatre universities and theatre lovers all over the world. It is a celebration for those who can see the value and importance of the art of "theatre" It is also a wake up call of sorts for governments, politicians and institutions which have not recognized its value to the people and to individuals as well as economical growth.

World Theatre Day has been celebrated in many and varied ways by ITI Centres. There are now more than 90 throughout the world. Theatres, theatre professionals, theatre lovers, theatre universities, academies and schools celebrate it as well. Every year an outstanding figure in theatre or a person outstanding in heart and spirit from another field is invited to share his or her reflections on theater and international harmony. This is known as the International Message and is translated into more than 50 languages, read before tens of thousands of spectators before performances in theatres through the world and printed in hundreds of daily newspapers.

The goals of World Theatre Day are to promote theatre in all itso forms across the world. Help make people aware of the value of theatre. Enable theatre communities to promote their work on a broad scale so that governments and opinion leaders are aware of the value and importance of dance in all its forms and support it. The most important thing to me is to share theatre and enjoy it with others
