Crayon Day



Crayola crayons just announced that they would be having a color gain retirement The color would be dandelion yellow. The new color has not been announced but has been suggested to be a type of blue. Until this news there were 120 colors that included 23 reds, 19 blues, 16 purples, 14 oranges, 11 browns , 8 yellows, 2 grays , 2 coppers, 2 blacks, 1 white, 1 gold and 1 silver.

Ever wonder how many crayons are produced?? The number may surprise you. Every day there are over 12 million crayons a day and nearly 3 billion crayons made a year.

Have you ever dined at a restaurant that caters to families?? There may be a color sheets and small packs of crayons. Did you know that every year that more than 100 million crayons are thrown out  every year by more than 15,000 restaurant chains.

A child can wear down 720 crayons by their 10th birthday. Since 112 average crayons equals one pound of waste a child can make 6 lbs of waste just in crayons a year.
