This great day was the birthday of Thomas Paine

Thomas Paine or Pain was born on January 29, 1737. He was born in England the son of a corseter. He was kicked out of school by the age of 12 and started working for his father but did not last long. By the age of 19 he would start traveling the sea. When Thomas became an excise tax officer in England when he was 31. This again did not last long but he was meant to become a great man and he would. In 1774 Paine would meet Ben Franklin in London and shortly after he would emigrate to Philadelphia. 



Paine would live the American dream before anyone knew there was such a thing. His life in England was very much of a failure but in the colonies he hoped this would all change. Paine was a great writer and his writing was embraced by those rebelling against Britain. Paine would bring up the idea of a country being governed by the people. He would create and share two pieces that he wrote (1) Common Sense and (2) The American Crisis

The American Crisis was a collection of articles written by Thomas Paine during the American Revolutionary War George Washington would order all of his troops in Valley Forge to read this article.

THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but "to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER" and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God. - Thomas Paine 

Our political minds are creating issues for life in the United States. Patriots need to rise up and let their voices be heard. Using social media is just one great example. Educating the low information voter of the dangers he or she is in by not following up on what is being said and only listening to what might be happening. We need to blog, comment, use facts and educate the uneducated. The love of country is what will make America Great. The internet is one of the greatest weapons to help educate all. This is not about left or right but about what is right. If Thomas Paine could inspire during the revolutionary war then we can fight for a great nation and imagine others writing about what will make this nation great again. For we are the United States of America
