Stop Smoking Do IT for Your Health

January 11th is a day to recognize that "Cigarettes are Hazardous to you Health". The truth is that big tobacco companies have known this fact for over 50 years. In the 1950s tobacco companies knew the dangers of their products but continued to market them to the public. They literally placed sales over safety.

Smoking tobacco has been proven to be hazardous to your health. Is one of your New Year's resolutions to quit smoking?

The effects of cigarette smoking are dangerous and even deadly. Approximately 4000 chemicals are present in the chemical composition of cigarette. Hundreds of those chemicals are toxic. The ingredients in cigarette affect everything from the internal functioning of the organs and target the efficiency of the body's immune system. Every organ in the body can be harmed by smoking. Not only does smoking damage your organs but may cause many diseases and reduce the health of smokers.

When you are smoking a cigarette the chemicals that are in the smoke starts to travel through your body and begin to cause damage in several ways. Carbon monoxide starts to bind to the red blood cells preventing affected cells from carrying a full load of oxygen. Carcinogens in tobacco smoke start to damage genes responsible for growth Benzo pyrene binds to cells in the airways and your major organs The lungs and immune system begin to break down and the risk of you catching respiratory and other infections grow. The smoke from the cigarette helps promote atherosclerosis and chronic lung injury.  Your aging process is out of control and your skin and organs realize this much earlier than you do. You begin to develop cancer, cardiovascular disease and COPD. It only takes 10 seconds after you first inhale smoke for nicotine to be apparent in your body. Perhaps it does not only take one cigarette to totally deteriorate your health but the first is the start of a process that your body would rather not take.

An estimated 443,000 deaths are caused directly by cigarette smoke this is more than the HPV virus, illegal drugs, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.
