national day for chocolate covered nuts

February 25, 2014 is

National Chocolate Covered Nuts Day

It's national Chocolate Covered Nuts Day and why not celebrate it with a delicious snack of your favorite chocolate and nuts. For centuries humans have relied on nuts to be a staple of their diets. Ancient Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Native Americans have all enjoyed nuts in their diets. Humans have also believed that nuts were sacred and had divine properties. Chocolate entered the scene with the ancient Aztecs and Mayans who prepared drinking chocolates for sacred rituals. When explorers would share this drink in their home countries when it was found everything tasted better with chocolates. In the mid 19th century many were enjoying dipping pretzels, nuts, and fruits into melted chocolate.
