A Day At The Home Spa Thanks TO Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

Beauty is an item in life that is all around and yet it is something that often cost quite a bit of money if one is not careful. The cost of a day at the spa may mount up to quite a sum of money. That is why many have started to do with out or do with less. I can remember the stories my mom would share with me about getting dolled up for a date with my dad. With little to no money she would try to find every trick to look the best. What if I told you that one of the most inexpensive items in your kitchen cupboard is a wonderful spa ingredient that can make you feel like a million dollars.

I am sure that my mom would have loved to have known the secrets that the little yellow box of baking soda in her kitchen had to share within the realm of beauty. Arm and Hammer baking soda a common cooking ingredient can also make you feel like you have spent the day at the spa as well but spent only pennies for a day of beauty.

I was lucky enough recently to receive a  delightful box of products from Arm & Hammer Baking Soda through the group MomCentral. The basket included box and designer shaker of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda along with how-to’s to recreate spa treatments at home; an aromatherapy candle, organic tea bags and a tea cup to create a spa experience; a nail kit, nail polish, lavender oil for a manicure/pedicure; and a terrycloth hair wrap and organic wash cloth for a facial.

Having started a new job directly after the holidays has taken a bit of a stressful toll on me. I was up for a day of pampering and loved the fact that (1) I did not have to go outside into the cold and (2) it was at a very affordable price not only because of the lovely box of goodies but because the needed items were in reach. I invited a friend over and we took a day of enjoying each others company and pampering. A few of the spa recipes that we tried included

Facial Glow

Mix 3 parts Arm & Hammer Baking Soda with 1 part water. Cleanse skin as usual, followed by the gentle scrub. (Be careful to avoid eye area). Rinse with warm water. Leaves skin feeling nourished and refreshed.

Exfoliating Pedicure
Blend 2 tablespoons of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in a basin of warm water. After a nice soak, make a scrub using 3 parts Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and 1 part water. Follow with an application of a rich moisturizer and a warm towel foot wrap. Let sit for 5 - 10 minutes. Feet will feel smooth and clean.

Brightening Manicure
Dip brush into Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and scrub nails and cuticles. Make a paste of 3 parts Arm & Hammer Baking Soda to 1 part water. Rub in a gentle, circular motion over hands and fingers to exfoliate and smooth. Rinse clean with warm water and apply polish as usual.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Arm & Hammer and received a beauty basket to thank me for taking the time to participate. I thank them for the product that was sent for me to review. I have shared my candid personal thoughts and opinions in this post They are my opinions and others may or may not agree with them

  1. These are great tips! I sometimes use baking soda to brush my teeth, as it really helps keep them white. Thanks for visiting House Revivals, and glad you liked my before and after concept.
