To Freeze Corn on the Cob you need to blanch that corn in boiling water for about 5 minutes, then put in ice water till it's cold, then dry and freeze.Otherwise it will suffer damage in the freezer and get tough and bad tasting. You can freeze in air tight zipper loc baggies
You are right. I have done that many times. I love corn on the cob. I have not fixed any this year.
