Build A Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes

Young leaders were recently recognized by Build A Bear Workshop through the Huggable Heroes program. These individuals were recognized for making positive contributions in their communities and around the world. With more than 1,000 nominations the Build A Bear team had to narrow these down to 75 semifinalists and then again to 25 finalists. I can imagine this had to be a hard decision. In the end there Build A Bear created 10 Huggable Heroes for 2010. Issues that were tackled by this years Huggable Heroes included illiteracy, poverty, feeding the hungry, inspiring other youth volunteers, raising funds to help cure diseases, supplying items for the military troops and toys for children in need. These young people put in more than 650 hours a month collectively as they raised funds and gathered needed items that were valued at more than $22.5 million. Each of the Huggable heroes received $10,000 ($7,500 educational scholarship and $2,500 to donate to their charity). They were each also able to visit the home of Build A Bear in St. Louis.
