Cystic Fibrosis Awareness

May helps bring awareness to many health issues. Cystic Fibrosis is a health disorder that affects the lungs primarily but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys and intestine. Some issues that are caused by cystic fibrosis are the inabilities to breath and cause large coughing fits that result in large amounts of mucus being coughed up. Cystic Fibrosis is inherited from prior generations. Secretions of sweat, digestive fluids, and mucus are normal but for those with cystic fibrosis the secretions are thickened.

There is no known cure for cystic fibrosis. A lifetime of lung infections that are often treated with antibiotics is common. In addition inhalations may need to be used as well. In the worst cases lung transplantation may be needed. Individuals with cystic fibrosis live an average life of 42 - 50 years of age. Often lung problems will be responsible for many of the death of those with cystic fibrosis.
