Bonnie and Clyde

During the early 1930's before many of our modern conveniences were available there was a love story in bloom,,, or so it seemed. Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker from Texas would go on a crime spree that would place them in the history books. The setting was during the great Depression and a world where life was short and often boring. However, the duo of Bonnie and Clyde offered the story of a woman who chomped cigars, a duo that carried automatic rifles and robbed banks before they ran away in a automobile.

Clyde "Bud" Barrow grew up in the family of poor farmers with the love of music. Early in life he taught himself how to play the saxophone and guitar. Buck, his older brother, had an influence on Clyde's life that would turn his attention from music to stealing cars. Meanwhile, Bonnie enjoyed music herself and often performed on stage.

Little Bonnie Parker as she was known by man would perform in school pageants and talent shows. She was a pretty little lady with a bubbly and bright personality. Bonnie dreamed of her name being in lights one day. However, her future would live out to be much different than her dreams.

Bonnie and Clyde are often pictured as a couple who robbed many banks. The truth is that the couple in reality robbed less than 15 banks. The couple did not always get much money from the robberies, once only finding about $80. In fact, Bonnie was not always involved in the robbery choosing instead to drive the get away car or not be involved at all.

The duo of Bonnie and Clyde did not often choose to rob banks as they would rather rob small grocery stores and gas stations. The smaller jobs had to be performed more often compared to the bank jobs as they often got less money but more notice. Another difference that was true but not portrayed is that Bonnie did not smoke cigars.

Bonnie and Clyde were supported by their families as much as they were devoted to them as well. Their parents would work together to keep each other up with news of what was going on with the couple. Bonnie and Clyde would send money home when ever possible but when they had no or little money their families would help them. In the end the love for their family would be the end.

Stories created resembled those of robin hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. This was only a myth while in reality Clyde and Bonnie Barrow along with the rest of the gang lived a hard, uneasy life full of injury and murder. The gang's fame was short lived when their lives ended in a bloody police ambush.

National Smile Month ::: Take Care of Your Teeth

National Smile Month began in the United Kingdom in 1977. Since that time it has grown to include the United States since 2009. The month long campaign draws attention to a few thoughts about keeping our smiles bright and healthy. These thoughts include:

  • brushing teeth at least before bed, after breakfast in the morning and any other time that you are able to fit in
  • Sugary drinks and foods should be reduced
  • regular dental visits should be taken serious as well.

It is important that we take care of our teeth. Our teeth work hard for us. From helping us to chew to aiding in speech they also help offer our face it's unique shape. A few extra things we can do to take care of our teeth include:
  • Cleaning between your teeth after meals with floss
  • Changing your toothbrush every three months, or whenever it shows wear so that you are always cleaning your teeth correctly.
  • Not using mouthwash directly after brushing to avoid rinsing away the fluoride in your toothpaste.
  • Quitting smoking to reduce tooth loss, gum disease, tooth staining, and the possibility of developing oral cancer.
