Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. Saturday Six

I have to admit that I started basing questions on letters of the alphabet completely on a whim. I wasn’t certain that I could come up with six questions for every letter, but so far, it’s going great.
This week, we’re up to the letter T.
To play, just leave a comment with either your answers or the link to the post on your own blog if you choose to post the answers there! Each week, you can find other interesting blogs by checking the comments others leave.

2. T is for TELEPHONE: Who was the last person you spoke to on a telephone?

3. T is for TIME: Which do you usually have the most difficulty doing: getting to work on time or leaving work on time?

have difficult leaving work because there is so much to get done

4. T is for TOUCAN: If you could own any kind of bird (and feeding and housing wouldn’t be an issue), which bird would you like to own?

well big bird off sesame street would be fun

5. T is for TOY: What do you own at this point that you consider your favorite “toy”?

We've Been Waiting For You ... Friday...

Oh my what a long week. With doctor visits and medicine needing picked up with only you know who able to do it to the week long frustration at work. Yes, I am so glad it is Friday. You see today was my last day to work for 2 whole days. Yes the weekend has arrived and I am oh so happy now what will I do????

Good question, there are so many things I could do like re-arranging the kitchen to cleaning off the front porch to oh my the list could continue on for quite a bit. With just getting over the flu and with a continuing cough I have found myself in a set back of sorts. One that I am sure will get caught up but maybe not this weekend.

No!! This weekend I have other things in mind. Like going through the folder that I found last night. THe one with oh so many memories of the past few years with so much information of family, food and blog. That is the folder that I want to take a bit and remember days of not so old but all the same days of change and old.

What will you be doing this weekend?

Hubby Loves Me

Tonight I am really special for so many things but one thing that I am truthly thankful for is that my hubby loves me. As I  came home from work today a bit overdone in my attitude, kids giving me a bit to much to deal with I must say that I was really happy to see that my hubby will always be there to support me even when I melt down and overcome myself. I praise God that he was put in my life 27 years ago and that we are still together

Hodge Podge Wednesday

1. Lake Superior University has once again published a list of words/phrases they think should be banished from the Queen's English...here's the list for 2013-

fiscal cliff, kick the can down the road, double down, job creators/creation, passion/passionate, yolo (acronym for you only live once), spoiler alert, bucket list, trending, superfood, boneless wings, and guru

Which of these words would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Go here to read more about how the words were chosen.

well I must say that the fiscal cliff has been talked about quite a bit I really would  like  a normal term for this.

2. When was the last time you rode a train? Where did you go?
I have never rode a train unless you count the little train at the zoo and so forth

I personally dont like them but must say that my kids sure do they seem to like cinnamon or blueberry the best with lots of cream cheese

4. 'Tis the season of awards shows....if you could star in a movie already made, which one would you choose?

Never really thought about this one much but would say it would be so fun to be in the movie grease

5. The move towards single gender classrooms has been making the news in recent months...what say you? Do you think kids perform better if separated by gender and are taught differently or is that discrimination? If you're a parent is this something you'd support in regard to your own children?

Don't like this idea much as part of the school years is socialazation and getting along with each other sometimes this is done best in the classroom or on the playground

6. What's your favorite thing about staying in a hotel?

ask my daughter she would say the hotel pool me myself I would say the fact that she is always there

7. Do you have a 'word' for 2013? What's the story behind your choice?

slowly picking up the word determination because that is what I am this year to make my goals

SnowBalls for Valentines Day

For the chocolate cake:
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
For the filling/frosting:
  • 6 room temperature egg whites
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • 3 drops red food coloring
Method:
For the chocolate cake:
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together, then add the eggs, one at a time, and the vanilla. In another bowl whisk the flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Add about half the dry ingredients to the butter/sugar mixture, pour in the milk, and then the rest of the flour mixture, until just combined. Ladle batter into greased muffin/cupcake tins and bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 15 minutes. Makes 2 dozen. Let cool completely before beginning the next step, which is to cut a cone out of the bottom of each cake. Trim (and discard, if you wish) the pointy end, leaving only a small circle to cap the cake once filled.
For the filling/frosting:
In the bowl of a stand mixer beat egg whites until soft peaks form. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water and cream of tartar and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and cool until the syrup reaches 242 Farenheit. Slowly pour syrup into the egg whites, followed by the vanilla and coconut extracts. Whip for another ten minutes, until the mixture is thickened and room temperature. Meanwhile, process coconut until fine in a food processor, adding the food coloring, if desired. This goes in a shallow bowl for rolling/sprinkling the almost-finished product. Use a pastry bag (or Ziplock with the corner cut out) to fill each cupcake, and replace cake cap, leaving upside down for frosting. With a small spatula coat the sides and bottom with a light layer of frosting, then add the coconut sprinkles. The End.

Shushybye Baby Review and Giveaway

BabyFirst, America’s television destination for parent-child interactive entertainment will debut the new season of its popular music-centric series Shushybye Baby on Sunday, January 27th. (BabyFirst is available on DirecTV, Dish Network and Comcast check local listings for your channel)
In anticipation for the new season a three DVD collection of the entire series collection is now available!

My daughter is super organized and has been this way from childhood. She even tries to hold a daily schedule as a mother of two. One place where she really strives to maintain a plan is at bedtime. One idea that I was recently introduced to was the Shushybye Baby programs.

I love being a nana it seems that the things of old are sometimes new again and sometimes they have gone and little ones have no idea what we speak of. There are also so many new things to check out. The  ShushyBye’s is one of those things new to me.  I was able to review a CD and thought that the show was so super cute. I am a nana who loves to watch my little ones watching shows that they love but those shows must also be something that captivates attention as well. Believe me when I say that ShushyBye's did just that how much fun there was to be had.  The Shushie characters are super fun to watch sing and dance. One of the things that I love is that they draw those watching in by creating dreams that are delivered in Dream Boxes as the little ones begin to fall asleep. I believe these programs are fun and exciting and offer a chance for little ones to connect to life.

Honey Can Make You Feel Better

Many of us have either suffered from a cold or flu or know someone who has. One secret that some know and others may want to know is that honey helps the common cold, sore throats and chills that come with being under the weather. It is believed that for more than 2700 years honey has been used to treat a variety of ailments through topical applications and has recently been shown to have antiseptic and antibacterial properties of honey. Is it not wonderful that God created the bee that has created the wonderful honey that is so good for us. With all things God knows exactly what he is doing we just sometimes have to figure it all out. Now it is known that honey contains copper, iron, silica, vitamin B, manganese, chlorine, calcium, potassium, sodium, phosphorous, aluminum and magnesium.
