dENiZEN Jeans

Here in Illinois where I live there is an old saying the weather warms up as quick as it cools down and may be the only place where the a/c and the heat are needed in the same day. With that thought in mind and since we are in August the month many schools head back to school it is time to start buying fall and winter clothing. One of the first things on this list are blue jeans. I was offered the chance to review some blue jeans but not any old blue jeans but dENiZEN jeans.

Not familiar with the name of these jeans? It may be because Levi's launched the new dENiZEN jeans just this past month in July and only in the US and only at Target or Target.com Levi's brand jeans have been around since 1853 so they have earned America's trust. The new dENiZEN is top quality as well and are styled with the consumers looking for style, great fit and a good value in mind. Available for men, women and children they are available in a wide variety of colors and styles. With a great price between $17.99 and $29.99 they are perfect for school, work or any old time you need a great pair of jeans. dENiZEN jeans have made their way to the US after being available in China, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea since 2010.

Mother Goose Club

I was always a fan of Mother Goose. Her amazingly fun stories were ones that I would read myself, read to my brothers and sisters and then when I had my own children I would read to them as well. They had a feeling of home and fun and when I heard about the Mother Goose Club and a chance to review I knew that this was something I had to do. Now that I am a grandmother it would be a great chance to share Mother Goose with them as well.

Team Mom allowed me to review the Mother Goose Club so that I could share with my family the wonderful rhymes I learned as a child.  PBS currently has a TV series called Mother Goose Club aimed at toddler/preschooler age children and it has received 14 Midsouth Emmy award nominations. Recently releasing a DVD called Nursery Rhyme SInging Time with Mother Goose Club.

Songs such as Jack Be Nimble, Itsy Bitsy Spider and many others that we grew up with are available on the DVD. Your preschooler will love to sing the Humpty Dumpty, Pat a Cake, and Little Bo Peep song and you will love the fact that they are learning about the characters that you remember from your childhood. Episodes on the DVD include Hickory Dickory Dock Rocks, Teddy Bear Boogie Woogie and Itsy Bitsy Spider TIme all of which will delight your child and leave you feeling good that they are watching educational TV and having fun They will meet characters such as Teddy Bear, Little Bo Peep, and Eep Mouse all of which are colorful characters that are being protrayed by adult and children. The dancing characters also sing and help to enforce lessons that young children need to learn.
The Mother Goose Club is perfect for parents, day care providers, grandparens and educator. I believe strongly that children learn more when they are having fun as they learn and the fun musical rhymes helps enforce the fun rhymes.

A variety of fun musical CDs and a coloring book are available for purchase from the store on the Mother Goose Club Website. This summer a grand package of the CDs, DVD and coloring book are available for $27 Along with the great products for sale the website provides valuable resources such as a huge selection of nursery rhymes, printables and sheet music. A parent section is available and gives tips to helping your child learn rhymes as well as a printable uppercase and lowercase alphabet practice sheets.  selection of nursery rhymes that kids can listen to as well as videos, printable pdfs and sheet music. At the bottom of the Parents section are tips on rhyming with preschoolers and a very nice collection of printable uppercase and lowercase alphabet practice sheets.
Connect with the Mother Goose Club on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

We would like to thank Team Mom and Mother Goose Club for allowing us to review such wonderful products. The thoughts shared in this post are those of mine alone and no other compensation besides the review products were given.

CAT Tough Tracks

I am a grandma to both boys and little girls. One thing that they all agree on is that they always have fun at nana's house. Recently we were able to have a bit more fun because we were able to review the CAT tough tracks dump truck. Team Mom is the wonderful group that allowed me the chance to review the truck.

Information about the CAT tough tracks dump truck:

The CAT tough trucks series of toys that includes the dump truck we reviewed are wonderful to take to the beach. Since my daughter lives less than 1/2 hour from the lake she often takes the kids to play and swim. My grand-children are all under age of 6 but the great thing is that because the CAT Tough Trucks were created for children over the age of 2 they can all play with them or soon will be able to. The CAT Tough tracks are made out of plastic and have no metal parts. Perfect for little hands because there is no chance of sharp edges to hurt the little ones. In addition because the trucks are made of plastic they have longer wear and tear life time because there is no chance to rust.

CAT 8" Tough Tracks are by Toy Slate and the entire collection contains CAT Dump Truck, Cat Excavator, CAT Bulldozer, and CAT WHeel Loader. You can find this super fun collection at locations such as Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and Target. No batteries are required for a bit of fun simply use your imagination. Retail Price is around $10.

Our Review

We enjoyed our review greatly having lots of fun driving, using and playing. I believe this is a wonderful summer toy for the beach but don't forget that the holidays are approaching fast as well.

Disclaimer: I received the complimentary samples through Team Mom from Toy Slate.  The experiences and opinions related within are personal and unbaised.  No other compensation was received.

Easy & Delicious : Pasta with Bacon and Cheese

1 pound penne
8 slices bacon (about 1/2 pound)
½ large onion, sliced
15 ounces whole-milk ricotta cheese, at room temperature
10 fresh basil leaves, chopped

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the penne until al dente. Reserve one ladle of cooking water, then drain the pasta and transfer to a serving bowl. In a medium skillet, fry the bacon until crisp and transfer to a plate, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet. Add the onions to the skillet and cook until golden, about 10 minutes. Stir the onions and ricotta into the pasta along with the reserved pasta cooking water. Crumble the bacon and sprinkle it over the pasta along with the basil.

E is for elevator and Effingham Illinois

When I first introduced the elevator to my nephews I shared with them that it is a magical moveable room that would take us from one place to another. While this sounds wonderous I often think about Mr. Wonka's elevator in the chocolate factory

Effingham is a place that holds many memories for me. My dad worked here as a mail carrier when I was a teen

The power of time
